Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah - 15 December 2008- Official Start Solid Food

I am pleased to announce that I have exclusively breastfeed Xavier for 6 months! So, last month, Dr. Koe gave me a schedule on starting solid which I official opened TODAY at 8.15am. I breastfeed Xavier before I started the solid.

Well, the solid is a mixture of the Heinz Baby First Rice Cereal (1/2 teaspoon) mix with breastmilk (approx. 1 1/2 teaspoon).

I put Xavier on his feeding seat and Bon Appetite!!
This tray is called "Baby Cubes" which I can store breastmilk and pureed food for Xavier. The cube capacity is 2oz. or 70ml. Each tray has 8 cubes. I bought this for RM39.

"Ku Che" and Uncle Edwards' Wedding

6-Dec-08: Steven's sister was getting married on 7-Dec-08. So, for Chinese custom, there will be the so called "Bachelor's party" on the night before, where the relatives and friends will come over to the bride or grooms parents house for dinner and chit-chat. Also, the bride and groom are forbidden to meet on the night before.

7-Dec-08: The Chinese Wedding Ceremony was held on this day. The groom (Edward) came with his gang of guy friends to pick up Steven's sister (Ghyn Nyee). However, the challenge of entering the house was unpredictable as Ghyn Nyee's gang of girl friends came out with challenging ideas for the guys to do.
Well, when the guys manage to go thru the challenges, they and the precious groom were allowed to meet the bride! Then, the couple will have a prayer to the Guan Yin goddess and ancestor worship and followed by tea ceremony. The tea ceremony is where the couple will serve tea for the elders and followed by the children queing up to receive red packets from the couples. After the tea ceremony, the couple left to their own home for another round of tea ceremony for Edward's family members and we have lunch catered from Master Chef Catering Services.

8-Dec-08: WEDDING DINNER: The wedding dinner was held at Bukit Jalil Golf and Country Club at 7.30pm.

*****photos coming soon.......................:D stay tuned

Welcome new cousin Avianna!!

Hi! meet Xavier's new cousin Avianna Foo born on 11 November 2008. She is the 1st daughter of my cousin ALENE LEONG and FOO YEW CHIN. This photo was taken when she was 16 days old.

XOXO

Come back queen!!

YES! I am back in action! Since Xavier knew how to turn, he has been practicing alot in grandparents' house on his play gym and at home on his playpen, daddy & mummys' bed and his own bed.

Results:
1) He gets tired after his lifting exercise
2) He found his comfort spot by sleeping on his tummy
3) He sleeps soundly

Bravo Xavier!

KLCC Skybridge!!

Last Saturday (22-Nov-08), Auntie Ah Guek and her 4 kids plus her nephew came to KL. Since I don't have Steven's UNSER to pick up all 6 of them, Auntie Ah Guek decided that her 2 younger kids to tag along with us. So, since it's her 2 kids first time to KL and her long long time ago visit, Xavier and I took them for a tour and I decided to bring them to KLCC since it's a "must" visit place for tourists. I recomended them to the skybridge of the KLCC and told them that they need to go to the counter in the next day morning as the counter opens at 8.00am and ticket collection is first come first serve basis and once the quota is finished, tourists have to come back the next day. The skybridge visiting hours are between 10.00am until 7.00pm. Tourists are allowed to be in the skybridge for 10 mins only. However, we were very lucky as when we were querying at the counter, someone did not collect their 5 tickets and since there were 5 of us, including Xavier as 1 person, we got the opportunity to get to the skybridge! Adults were given tags and kids were given stickers.
When we entered the waiting area, we were given a 5 mins briefing about the KLCC construction, and most important, the owner is PETRONAS> hence Petronas Twin Towers.
Then a super fast lift took us up to the skybridge.

Here we are!

Xavier's turn

I am glad that finally, after 1 month of expecting, I witness for the first time, Xavier manage to turn himself from his left side. He made his turn at 10.45pm on 19 November 2008 (Wednesday). When he turned, he lies on his tummy for few seconds before his head lie back on the sofa. Well, yes, he turned on the sofa! I put him on the sofa with close supervision. He didn't want to be in his playpen alone while I watch tv. After his successful first turn, he did more turns on the bed at night.

Hurray!!! another step of Xavier's motorskills.

Why the long silence....again.....

Factors:
1) Xavier only sleeps at 12 midnight.
2) Xavier wakes up to sit or play between 3.00am to 4.30am.

Solutions:
1) I give him to tummy exercise until he gets tired and cry.

2) I do my best to leave office on time so that I can reach my MIL house and wake him up.
3) I bought the Johnsons Baby Lotion with Naturalcalm and apply on his body during his night cleaning, hope that he gets sleepy soon.

Result after 2 weeks:
No difference.

Conclusion:
I decided to spend time playing and attending to him. :)

Souled Out, Sri Hartamas

25-Oct-08: After the raya visit, Steven, me and Xavier went to Souled Out at Sri Hartamas to celebrate the birthdays of JJ Beh and Jennifer Woo

However, Xavier was asleep during the birthday celebration...

New Stuffs!!

4 months:
1) Xavier's new motorskills
-He can hold and shake the rattle
2) His new play gym: I bought this from Babyland. Brand is Simple Dimple at RM 59.90

3) Colorful chimes on his car seat. Auntie Lily gave Xavier when he was 1 month plus. However, that time, he was not reacting to it until 3 months plus. Hence, I decided to hang it on his car seat to entertain him while Steven or I drive. He will hit the chimes and they sounds! So cute!

4) Xavier's most awakening look! This was taken in a coffee shop in Brickfields. First time that he looks like a doll. In the second photo is another chime which I bought for him to entertain him too. It's brand is NUBY (forgot the price). It's a long legged frog. Xavier loves to pull it's leg and sometimes bite the foot. Poor froggy....Besides that, Xavier likes to put his fingers into his mouth now..I guess it's teething time!!

Festive Seasons Visitings - Hari Raya and Deepavali

HARI RAYA

Xavier's first Hari Raya visiting was on 25th October 2008. The honourable host was Rotarian Rasah (I hope that I spelled correctly). She is the member of the Rotary Club of Danau Desa.

DEEPAVALI

Xavier's first Deepavali visiting was on the Deepavali Eve (26th October 2008) at another member of the Rotary Club of Danau Desa, Rotarian Karsi.

On the 27th Oct 2008, Rotaractor Neeraj invited us to his house. We were happy to catch up with the Rotaractors and Ryzers since we haven't meet them for a very long time.

Last weeks' Happenings

7-Oct-08: I decided to buy Xavier a seat since he prefers the sitting position. My friend Rachel recommended me the Bumbo seat which is excellent for sitting support. I went to the shop "The First Few Years" in Bandar Puteri. However, they do not have that seat. The owner recommended "The First Years" seat which is also an infant-to-toddler feeding seat. Hmm.. straight in my mind, Xavier can use this seat once he start his solid food after 6th month old. So, I bought the seat at RM 169.90

He can enjoy looking and chatting with me while I fold the clothes, watch tv....(SAFETY NOTE: the seat MUST be used with adult supervision)

He can enjoy his reading while on the seat...

SAFETY NOTE: It is recommended to use the harness so that the baby can get used to it. This seat can be strapped on a chair as a feeding chair. Also, if anyone read about the recall of this product online, I have checked and this unit is not the recall unit.

11-Oct-08 (11.30am): Steven , Xavier and I met Bong and Olivia in Jusco Serdang. Bong is now doing some online business for rock bottom price items and I bought a brooch and a pair of earrings from her.
Bong told us that Olivia loves sitting on the shopping trolley..such a cutie!

11-Oct-08 (7.00pm): Baby Nicholas Full Moon Party at Golden Sun Restaurant, Kuchai Lama
This is the party baby, Nicholas Yeow. The son of Duncan & Donna. He is so adorable!!

TT and Joanne trying to have a conversation with Xavier

Seated: Prime College friends: From Left to Right: Esther Jomiji, AhKai Wong, Bong Bui Kim and Quah Tze Hui. Standing: Duncan Yeow (the party babys' dad)
Here is Daddy and mini me again.....................................hehehe

NOTE: A full moon party is a Chinese celebration when a baby turns one month old. It can be celebrated at home (like Xavier's..oppss.I forgot to define it in the earlier post), in a restaurant, in a hall, etc....

Daddy with mini me

Last Sundays' (5-Oct-08) outing in One Utama, we decided to try the baby carrier since I left the baby pouch in Gina's house after the Saturdays' gathering. Steven was thrilled to wear the baby carrier so I took this photo. However, Xavier couldn't sleep in it compared to the comfy baby pouch.

Xavier's Baptism

Xavier was baptised on the 27th September 2008 at Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Puchong.

Quoted from the book of "Catechism of the Catholic Church"

The Baptism of infants
Born with a fallen human nature and tainted by original sin, children also have need of the new birth in Baptism to be freed from the power of darkness and brought into the realm of the freedom of the children of God, to which all men are called. The sheer gratuitousness of the grace of salvation is particularly manifest in infant Baptism. The Church and the parents would deny a child priceless grace of becoming a child of God were they not to confer Baptism shortly after birth.

Christian parents will recognize that this practice also accords with their role as nurturers of the life that God has entrusted to them.

Xavier's first outstation trip

Steven wanted a relaxing outstation trip during this Raya holiday. He suggested 2 places to overnight ie. Pulau Pangkor or A Farmosa (in Malacca). Both I rejected since we need to take a 1/2 hour boat ride from the jetty to the island (Pulau Pangkor), and I don't think that I can really join the rides nor the zoo visit in A Farmosa with Xavier along. For me, both places seems dangerous for a 3 month old baby.

I suggested Sungai Congkak in Hulu Langat as I miss the waterfall and the fresh greeneries. I can imagine myself sitting on the rocks with Xavier while Steven went cool dipping and feeling the cool fresh mountain water. However, I had to forget this trip today as I am worried that the place is close due to the Hari Raya since the officers are Malays.

Finally, Steven proposed a day trip to Genting Highland. I agreed. We invited the mother in law with Steven's youngest brother Keith. We left the house around noon and head off to Genting, which is an hour away from our place. On the way, we stopped by for lunch in Old Town White Coffee. After the nice meal, we head off to Genting. The way up was winding that Xavier keeps complaining. I guess that he is not used to the terribly winding road or the pressure as we were heading up the mountain. When we reach there, there were so many cars and we went around for the car park but we couldn't find any good place to park. Hence, Steven gave up and suggested that we should go to Bukit Tinggi, which is located in Pahang.

The first stop at Bukit Tinggi is the Berjaya Hills Golf and Country Club. I couldn't see the golf area except a horse range and riding area.

Horse riding is RM 25 for 10 mins (Peak & non-peak time)

The horses there have nice shades with enclosures. There are even wood blind to shade from the sun, maybe.

After taking some photos, we head off to the Japanese Village by car. However, along the road to the Japanese Village, we need to pay for entrance. RM 10 per adult and RM 8 per child. The entrance fee is for the Japanese Village, Rabbit Farm and Colmar Tropicale.

We parked our car at the car park, then took a tram up the hill abit. Then the tram drop us at the waiting area.

Along the way to the Japanese village from the waiting area.

Here we are!

Nice huge koi!

The lovely Japanese Garden (the only one in tropical country-Malaysia..oh..)

After the green walk at the Japanese Garden (we didn't really see a Japanese Village anyway), we went up to the Colmar Tropicale, which is also called French Village.
I put Xavier in the baby pouch so that he can sleep.

He slept soundly indeed
After the short tour of the day, we left Bukit Tinggi around 6.30pm.

Shaolin kungfu baby

Today, 1 October 2008, I decided to tell Steven that Xavier should get bald hair cut due to the cradle cap. Many friends have been admiring his "pacak" hair style but we have to bald is once to clean up the scalp with baby oil. I hope that this is the only one botak hair cut without his permission, and I will make sure that he have nice hair style when the hair start to grow back.

We went to Steven's regular Aunty hair stylist and they were thrilled to see Steven's baby. We told them that we are sending the baby for a hair cut. Then the aunty said "crew cut"...then continue in cantonese... then another aunty said "botak..botak".. then continue in cantonese.. which I didn't manage to catch the sentences.. I told her "NO crew cut, botak OK". Then, there goes Xavier's spiky hair...
Here's Xavier, suddenly he looks like a Shaolin kungfu baby.

Before the hair cut,

Almost done!
